I am a native Chicagoan and proud Howard University Alumna. I grew up listening to mostly Old School R&B with my parents (...think Shalamar, The Whispers, James Brown). But fell in love with Hip Hop when I heard “Children’s Story” by Slick Rick. From there, the rest was history and I became a certified Hip-Hop junkie. I have over 20 years of experience in music. I am trained in 4 instruments (Saxophone, Clarinet, Piano, and Drums), and have experience in almost every aspect in music from engineering and producing to composing and writing. I use my passion for music and technical background to bring the most honest and thorough reviews.
Hailing from the Queen City (Charlotte, NC), music has always been a love of mine since I grew up hearing the sounds of Al Green, Little Milton & Marvin Gaye blasting through my grandma’s stereo. But it was 1996, All Eyez On Me in my mom’s white Honda Accord where Hip-Hop changed my life. In that Honda Accord I was exposed to many different artist from DMX, Foxy Brown, and even Jay-Z (The GOAT) and the rest is history. Music has been tattooed on my heart since then. I pride myself on being true to the art through my honest feedback on the culture. I look forward to helping move the culture forward.
I am PVAMU alumnus that hails from Houston, the land of screw and the trillest. Growing up music has always been a part of my upbringings. Since I could remember, and all through my childhood, my mother would bring me faithfully with her to choir rehearsal. This is where I met my first love, music. Every Saturday morning was filled with waking up to the old school classics on the record player. Through school I embarked on my vocal performance endeavor by joining various choirs. While my mother was a strict listener of gospel and the older R&B, my sister introduced me to the more modern musical cultures of hip hop, pop, and rock. Singing for as long as I have has made music a necessity for me to function throughout the day. I can find a song for just about any mood I am in at that moment. Being eclectic and passionate about music is what ignites my overall take on music from generation to generation.
